Water and power reliability: at fab sites — Gujarat is investing, but 24×7 ultra-pure water at fab volumes is unprecedented in the region.
Skilled process engineers: — India has 50,000+ chip designers but only a few thousand process engineers with fab floor experience. Training pipelines are being built with IITs, IISc, and partnerships with Purdue and NTU.

The Cross-Border Angle

The most interesting deals we see at Nirji Ventures involve cross-corridor structuring — a Japanese or Taiwanese equipment supplier partnering with an Indian JV; a Singapore-headquartered materials company selling into Gujarat and Assam fabs; a US-designed IP block manufactured at Tata Dholera. India is not going to displace Taiwan. It doesn''t need to.
